Axe Cop's tragic childhood. NOTE: This episode is best read in order after episode 4
I’m excited to announce our son, Calvin Peter Nicolle, was born safe and healthy on July 24th. I’m taking the rest of August off to focus on baby duties and helping my wife with the crazy process. Axe Cop will begin posting again in September 2017. Thanks for understanding!
Ethan I always wondered what it would look like if I scanned them in and animated them like they were real cartoons. All I did was snap a picture of each page then import the photos into a gif app and set the speed. I did this all on my phone. I created these back before the internet was even really a common thing for people to have. The one with Robin Hood I drew when I came home from seeing Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves in theaters when I was 10 or 11.
I studied animation books obsessively from childhood. Preston Blair, Tony White, Richard Williams, I studied and studied every animation book I could get my hands on. It’s fascinating to see these things as an adult and realize I really did have some serious raw talent to be pulling off some of this stuff at such a young age. It makes me want to try my hand at animating again.

Emerald City Comic Con is the first Con I have done in years! It’s a special year for me because the book I have been working on with the Make a Wish Foundation and one incredibly creative young man is finally done! I will be attending ECCC Friday afternoon through Saturday. I will not be there Thursday or Sunday due to limitations in my own schedule and flight availability. As this kind old gentleman is pointing out for you, I will be at booth C14. (For reference that is right between C13 and C15).

I will also have Time Wreckers posters to give out. Time Wreckers is the big book I worked on with the Make a Wish Foundation. We will be doing a panel about it on Saturday evening. The book took 3 years and 50 artists, but it’s done! I’m really excited to hand the finished product off to Noah.
Besides all that, I will be taking commissions in sumi ink. Feel free to email me if you want to put an order in. I will also have all the Axe Cop volumes and a few copies of the cancelled Bearmageddon printed editions and a few Dickinson Killdeer’s Guide to Bears of the Apocalypse. I will also have the limited edition Axe Cop Songster Screen Prints.
