Axe Who?

Today, Axe Cop forgets who he is in another great guest episode:

This episode comes courtesy of Trevor and Brad from Shyeah! comics:

Tomorrow I am going to dump all the guest strips we have left over into one finale lump of episodes, so stay tuned for that.

Girly Time!

I love this episode because it is so opposite anything an Axe Cop comic would ever, or should ever be.  That's because it was made by a female:

This episode comes courtesy of Carolyn Main.  I will warn you of two things… one, she's very talented, and two, her site contains some adult humor:

Thanks again to the guest artists for filling in this week!  Tomorrow you get a strip by the creators of SHYEAH!  See you then.

Guest Week!

I know that last week was guest week… but this week really is guest week for reals because You will be getting at least one new guest strip every day.  Today's is this one:

This episode comes courtesy of Jason Brubaker at reMIND:

We got a new section for Guest Strips that sets them in their own category apart from Axe Cop Episodes and Ask Axe Cop Episodes.  You can find them under “Extras” or in the Episode Archives.  They will not update on the main page right now, so watch the blog for the updates.  Each one is coming out at 11:00am (pacific time) each day this week.  If you haven't kept up on why all the guest strips, this is why:

I'm on an adventure with my 13 year old sister Kaitlyn.  As you read this blog we will probably be in line at Universal Studios.  Enjoy the guest strips this week, and if you are one of the crap talkers in the comments section, why not take a break and see us on Monday.  I don't like seeing my guests disrespected, if you would rather have nothing this week go spend some time elsewhere until I am ready to continue.  Huge thanks to the people who sent in strips to fill the days, I have more than enough.

Stone Cop

Hey Fellas and Fell-ets,

Today's guest episode comes to us from Kevin Coulston and explores Axe Cop's ancestry…

Kevin Coulston does a web comic called Stale Bacon which you can find by clicking the banner below.  As with any web comic I link, most web comics are not all-ages friendly so if you are a parent, check it out before you show your kids.

I would also like to remind you that CHOP the Axe Cop Podcast had a new episode this week.  I was not present because I was on the road with my little sister.  Check out the hilarious new episode “Super Uni-Man.”

Now, onto some good/bad news…

I had said that I was taking a week off, but I wasn't really looking at the calander.  I have my sister until Thursday and we just got to California last night.  Also, a flood of guest strips came in at the end of this week.  So I literally have a guest strip for every day of the week next week and very little time to do my own- plus this is precious time for me with Kaity, so I want to give as much as I can to her.  So… I have decided to let the guest strips take over next week too.  There are some really great ones I want you guys to see, and you'll get full on daily updates.  The next week after that, Axe Cop updates will be back in full swing with 5 updates a week.  So stay patient and enjoy the rest of the guest comics.  Visit their pages, thank them, be kind.   See you monday!

Nothing to Freak Out About

So, if you can stand to read a guest episode without losing your poo and frothing at the mouth, here it is…

This episode comes to us from Lucas Turnbloom who does Imagine This, about a grown man living with his stuffed animals in his dad's basement. Kind of like Calvin and Hobbes, only 30 years later.  Check it out here:

I haven't had a chance to read the massive controversy in the comments on the last guest episode, but let me clarify a few things.  These guest strips are something to do for fun while I am off for the week.  They are not supposed to replace Axe Cop, they are just filler… they aren't “canon”.  It's a web comics tradition to have guest strips when the creator is on a break, and I like the tradition.  Axe Cop is a very unique comic, it is pretty imposible to really pull off without a child, and ever then, it really requires the chemistry Malachai and I have to pull off. I think we all understand that, and we can smile and enjoy these offerings from other web comic creators if for no other reason, to support the medium and the community that web comics is.  If you don't like them then just wait til I pick it up again.

Thanks to those who have submitted so far.  These are the only two I have received, so if you want to get one in before I start posting again, now's the time.

Also, I will probably eventually move Guest episodes to their own section, but there is no time for that, this was pretty last minute so I'm doing it this way right now.  Thanks for visiting the site and keeping it's veins pumping bandwidth while I am away.  Back to hanging with my little sister… Disnye Channel, Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga… and lots of pizza.

Stealth!

If you hadn't been reading the blog, you missed the announcment that I am taking the week off to spend time with my younger sister Kaitlyn.  At the time this blog goes up we will be on the road headed for an adveture in Southern California.  I decided to see if I could get some guests to do some Axe Cop episodes for the fun of it while I took the week off.  I have noticed some other web comics do this and after a few people offered it sounded like a good idea.  So here is the first Axe Cop guest episode ever, by David Willis who does the web comic Shortpacked.

Check out more of David's work at his site:

Check out yesterday's blog for a new video update from Malachai and me, and also for the reason I may not have responded to your email and why you should try to send it again if I didn't.  I'll have my computer packed up for a few days here so there probably won't be another update til Wednesday.  See you then!

Guest Comics

I mentioned on Twitter that I would be up for posting some Axe Cop guest comics by other web comics artists during the visit with my sister.

I won't have time to individually email everyone who is responding because I will be on the road and finishing up my trip… if you want to submit a comic, just follow these guidelines:

1.  No swearing

2. No sexual humor.

3. Violence is OK, but try to keep it in the same style as Axe Cop… not gory, think 5 year old violence, not 19 year old violence.

I will not be supplying you with any material from Malachai.  You can use ideas from your childhood, for a 5 year old in your life… or just make something up.  Have fun with it.  Mail your guest comic to info@axecop.com and please include a link to your own web comic and a banner for it.  You can include an explanation of your comic too if you want.  I will post them in this blog area and I will link them on Facebook and Twitter and I will add any contributer to the links on our “Friends of Axe Cop” links list under “Extras” in the menu.

Banners should be no more than 600 px wide.  There really is no deadline, but the best time to get me these would be the first few days of next week.  My sister actually flies back home on the 24th, so I will have a tough time creating new content until then.  I don't want to take more than a week off, but even if you don't get it to me by next week I can post it in the blog later or save it til next time I need a guest strip.

I look forward to seeing what people come up with.  This will also be a good way to get to know some other web comics people… I have not had the chance to get to know many of you yet, I dove into this thing pretty quick.

CANDY CANDY

Baby Man's hunting trip continues today at the Candy Shop!

My Dad revealed to me with a sort of interventional spirit that this Baby Man story was not interesting at all as if by embarking on it I was causing the once great Axe Cop kingdom to fall to pieces.  Of course then I explained where it was headed and he seemed to have more appreciation.  He, like a few others, have asked if Axe Cop will ever be in “the Ultimate Battle” story.  Somehow I think some people are totally missing the Hasta Mia storyline happening every other page.  This story has been evenly split between two converging tales… one is more traditional Axe Cop, the other is this silent, somewhat creepy Baby Man story.  Some don't like both, some do.  I like both.

In case you missed it, the Axe Cop podcast recorded another episode on Wednesday.  You should give it a listen or download it on iTunes.  Thanks to everyone who called in, sent in emails or joined us live in the chatroom.  Also, thanks to James and John for faithfully making this podcast happen, it is a lot of fun and I enjoy it more and more every week.  We record every Wednesday at 7pm Pacific time.

EPISODE 6: ONE LEGGED UNDERPANTS (Diaper)

If you haven't been a member of our forum, now is the time to join.  James from the podcast started one of the best threads yet… the Axe Cop graveyard thread.  Here are a few of my favorites so far:

There is plenty more where that came from.  Check out the thread in the forum to join in the fun.

This last bit of news will be a bit of a bummer for you guys, but I am going to take the week off next week.  I would like to thank all of you, especially those who have bought stuff from the Axe Shop or the Topatoco store for giving me the opportunity to spend a month playing with my little brother.  We had so much fun together.  I leave on Monday to head home and I am taking my 13 year old sister Kaitlyn with me.  Her and I are going to have a So Cal adventure for a week and I want the time to spend with her, not on Axe Cop comics.  So I hope you'll grant us this week off.  Once I come back from that week off I will probably go back to the 5 comics a week structure.  I was hoping to be able to give you more details about what this trip was for, but that will have to wait until we can make the official announcment.  Thanks for the support and again… making it my job to sit and imagine crazy scenarios with my 6 year old brother.  This kid is so dear to me and it's such a treat to get to be such a part of his life.  Usually one has to work, so he doesn't have time to play… but playtime has become my job.

So, I'll see you in a week.  If anyone wants to send me any Axe Cop fan art or comics I will post them in the blog over the week to at least keep some sort of content going up.  Send them to info@axecop.com  Happy weekend!
